Kinder Room (4 -5 yrs)
2 staff to 15 children
For children aged four to five years, a Government-Funded Kinder program is incorporated daily at no extra cost. Our Kinder program consists of minimum 15 hours per child and is delivered by our Qualified Teacher who holds a two-year Master of Teaching and four-year Bachelor of Teaching degree. The Kinder can hold up to 15 children per day with two staff members.
Families can feel assured that the Kinder program offered within the centre cater for the individual needs of children, are based on their interests and strengths, and provide extensive planning and preparation for the transition into primary school.
The Kinder room has lots of interesting spots to explore and for children to let their imagination run free. The children can also participate in our specialist programs of languages, Kelly Sports, Hey Dee Ho music and movement program and cooking.
As the children are at an age of independence, decision-making and choices are strongly encouraged. Staff work alongside them to develop ownership of their own belongings and actions; encourage them to develop resilience; and display care, honesty and respect to each other.
Preparing for School
Children follow a fortnightly wall plan that is based on the National Early Years Learning Framework, as well as the children‘s interests based projects. The Kinder room aims to prepare children for school by offering the following in our program:
- A rich environment within which to interact
- Engaging children in language activities, for example listening and speaking during group times
- Offering children the opportunity to write and develop their fine motor skills
- Incorporating play, games, everyday situations and objects from the child‘s world, to assist the learning of numeracy.
Families are welcome to meet with our Kinder teacher at the end of each term to discuss their child‘s development and overall progress. The centre also holds a school readiness talk in the middle of the year to assist families in choosing the right school. We have a vast range of information and handouts, and our friendly staff are happy to help with any questions.
