Nursery (4mths to 18mths)

3 staff to 10 children

Catering to our youngest children, the Nursery has a gentle, aesthetically pleasing environment with plenty of natural light for young children to explore and play. It accommodates up to 10 children with three staff members, who put strong emphasis on building trusting relationships with every child and family, an essential for development.

Staff take time to learn about each child and their daily routine and needs. Families are encouraged to have a thorough handover in the mornings to ensure their child‘s day can be as relaxing and as close to the home routine as possible.

Programming within the room is designed around the children, and often initiated by them, with guidance of the National Early Years Learning Framework. Families are encouraged to share comments or special occasions they have had over the weekend in their child’s “Chat Book”. Comments can then be transferred into the fortnightly room program.

Each day staff take photos of children participating in play, which are then used to plan future experiences and are displayed in a portfolio. There are always plenty of sensory activities and experiences to explore, a key focus of children this age.

Leaving Bubs for the First Time

Staff understand that this can be an emotional and stressful time for parents, who are often leaving their child with a carer for the first time. So we invite parents to call for updates and reassurance throughout the day. Breastfeeding mothers are welcome to come any time to feed their child. Introducing children to solid foods is also planned carefully with families; staff will always ask families what solids have been introduced at home and discuss meal plans.

The centre follows the SIDS guidelines for safe sleeping, and staff will discuss specific settling techniques with families to ensure each child has a calm and secure experience.
